What Makes us Special

Extra-Curricular Activities heart

An important part of the Enrichment Programme at Fairstead House

Off site trips and in-school clubs and activities are an important part of the Enrichment Programme at Fairstead House. They are designed to enhance our pupils’ learning experience, deepening engagement and igniting interest.

The range of clubs is both extensive and imaginative, giving pupils accessibility and opportunity to develop new skills. They act too as a further way for the relationships between staff and pupils to become ever stronger, based on a firm foundation of trust and mutual respect. Most recently, our pupils have been throwing themselves into a Club Programme which includes Tag Rugby, Mindfulness, Debating, Gardening and Mandarin.

In any given academic year, our pupils may travel back in time with an outing to West Stow Anglo-Saxon village, sit down at a theatrical performance of The Lion who came to Tea, or dig up some interesting artefacts at the Cambridge Museum of Archaeology. As you wander the corridors of Fairstead House, you need to be careful; you never know when you may be being followed by Ancient Mayans or dinosaurs!

“My daughter has been at Fairstead since Year 1. She has been presented with a range of opportunities which she has grabbed with both hands. The benefit of small class sizes and a truly nurturing environment cannot be underestimated.  She has also benefited from the many and varied extra curriculum activities, such as Mindfulness and the Tea-Time Concerts. Both have helped to build her life skills and confidence.”
